Plagiarism Policy

The Journal of Indonesian Comparative of Syari'ah Law (JICL) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and publication ethics. The journal only accepts original manuscripts that have not been published previously and are not under consideration for publication elsewhere.

All submitted manuscripts are screened for textual similarity using Turnitin before entering the peer-review process. The similarity report serves as an editorial screening tool to assist in identifying potential overlap with previously published works. However, the similarity index alone does not determine whether plagiarism has occurred. Each similarity report is carefully evaluated by the editorial team based on the context, nature, and source of the similarities identified.

JICL considers plagiarism to include, but not be limited to:

• Verbatim plagiarism, namely copying words, sentences, or substantial portions of another person's work without appropriate quotation or acknowledgement.
• Plagiarism of ideas, namely presenting another person's ideas, arguments, interpretations, or concepts as one's own without proper attribution.
• Inadequate citation, namely using another person's work without appropriate acknowledgment or citation.
• Self-plagiarism (text recycling), namely reusing substantial parts of one's own previously published work without proper citation, disclosure, or legitimate academic justification.
• Duplicate or redundant publication, namely submitting or publishing substantially the same manuscript in more than one journal without appropriate disclosure and editorial approval.

If potential plagiarism is identified before publication, the editorial office may request clarification or revision from the authors. Where plagiarism is confirmed, the manuscript will be rejected.

If plagiarism or other forms of publication misconduct are identified after publication, the journal will investigate the matter in accordance with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Core Practices. Depending on the seriousness of the case, appropriate editorial actions may include publishing a correction, issuing an expression of concern, retracting the article, or notifying the authors' affiliated institutions where appropriate.

Authors are solely responsible for ensuring the originality of their submitted work and for obtaining permission to reproduce any copyrighted materials included in their manuscripts.

JICL is committed to safeguarding academic integrity and will address all allegations of plagiarism fairly, objectively, confidentially, and in accordance with internationally recognized standards of publication ethics.
