Auhtors Guideline & Types of Manuscripts

1. General Requirements

The Journal of Indonesian Comparative of Syari'ah Law (JICL) accepts original scholarly manuscripts that fall within the journal's focus and scope. Manuscripts must demonstrate academic relevance, sound argumentation, appropriate research methods, and engagement with relevant scholarly literature.

Submitted manuscripts must be original, must not have been published previously, and must not be under consideration for publication by another journal. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their submissions comply with the journal's author guidelines and publication ethics policies.

2. Manuscript Structure

Manuscripts should be organized according to their research objectives and methodological approach.

For conceptual and normative legal research, the manuscript should clearly identify the legal issue, research questions, analytical framework, relevant legal materials, and the reasoning supporting its conclusions.

For empirical or socio-legal research, the manuscript should explain the research problem, research questions, methodology, data sources, data collection procedures where applicable, analytical approach, findings, and discussion.

All manuscripts must present a clear argument and conclusions that directly address the research questions.

3. Language and Formatting

Authors must submit manuscripts in one of the languages explicitly accepted by JICL (Indonesian, English or Arabic). The journal's accepted languages must be stated consistently throughout the website and submission system.

Manuscripts must comply with the journal's requirements regarding word count, font, font size, spacing, footnotes, and file format. Authors should use the official manuscript template provided by JICL.

4. Citation and Referencing

Authors must cite all sources used in their manuscripts and provide complete bibliographic information. Citations and references must follow the citation style prescribed by JICL (chicago manual style 17th edition)

Authors are responsible for verifying the accuracy of quotations, paraphrases, legal provisions, case references, bibliographic information, and other cited materials.

5. Originality and Similarity Screening

All submissions are subject to editorial screening for originality and textual similarity. A similarity score is an indicator used in the editorial assessment and does not, by itself, establish whether plagiarism has occurred.

Editors assess similarity reports in context, taking into account quotations, citations, references, commonly used legal expressions, and other relevant factors. Suspected plagiarism or other forms of publication misconduct will be handled in accordance with JICL's Publication Ethics and Allegations of Research Misconduct policies.

6. Authorship and Author Responsibilities

All individuals listed as authors must have made a substantial scholarly contribution to the work, approved the final manuscript, and agreed to its submission to JICL.

The corresponding author is responsible for communicating with the editorial office and confirming that all authors have approved the submitted manuscript. Any changes to authorship after submission must be justified and approved by all affected authors, subject to editorial review.

Authors must disclose relevant conflicts of interest and acknowledge funding or other support where applicable.

7. Research Ethics

Authors must ensure that their research complies with applicable ethical requirements and relevant laws and regulations. Where research involves human participants or other activities requiring ethical review, authors must provide the relevant ethical approval or explain the applicable exemption, as appropriate.

Authors must not fabricate or falsify research data, plagiarize the work of others, or engage in other forms of research or publication misconduct.

Further information is available in JICL's Publication Ethics and Allegations of Research Misconduct policies.

8. Pre-Submission Checklist
