Journal of Indonesian Comparative of Syari'ah Law (JICL) is a peer-reviewed, open-access scholarly journal published by the Comparative Madhhab and Law Study Program, Faculty of Sharia, Universitas Darussalam Gontor, Indonesia. Established in 2018, the journal serves as an academic platform for the dissemination of original research and scholarly discussions in the fields of comparative law, Islamic law, customary law, and legal studies.
JICL aims to promote the advancement of legal scholarship by publishing high-quality research that contributes to the development of legal theory, legal doctrine, and legal practice. The journal particularly encourages interdisciplinary and comparative approaches to legal issues, covering a broad range of topics related to Islamic law, Indonesian national law, customary law, comparative legal studies, legal philosophy, constitutional law, human rights, and contemporary legal developments. Both doctrinal (normative) and empirical legal research are welcomed.
All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening followed by a rigorous double-blind peer-review process conducted by independent reviewers to ensure academic quality, originality, and scholarly integrity. The journal adheres to internationally recognized standards of publication ethics and is committed to maintaining transparency, integrity, and fairness throughout the editorial and publication process.
JICL welcomes submissions from academics, researchers, legal practitioners, judges, policymakers, and graduate students from Indonesia and abroad. Articles may be written in Bahasa Indonesia, English, or Arabic, provided they comply with the journal's author guidelines and editorial policies.
Since Volume 8 (2025), JICL has been published three times a year, in April, August, and December. The journal accepts submissions throughout the year and publishes original research articles, review articles, and conceptual or doctrinal legal studies.
The views and opinions expressed in the published articles are solely those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of the editors, the editorial board, the publisher, or the affiliated institution.
Currently JICL is in the process of reaccreditation with the latest accreditation status indexed in Sinta 5.
